In 2023, the ASA BSW will run from 9:15 AM to 4:00 PM on April 20th with the following schedule:

  • Session 1 (9:15 -11:00): Organoids/Organ Culture (Chair: Klementina fon Tacer)
Invited Speaker: Dr. Tracey Clement (Texas A&M University)
  • Session 2 (11:15 – 1:00): Transcriptomics and Other ‘omics (Chair: Chris Geyer)
Invited Speakers: Dr. Brian Hermann (University of Texas SA) and Dr. Sue Hammoud (University of Michigan)
  • LUNCH: 1:00 – 2:15
  • Session 3 (2:15 – 4:00): Immune cells and Inflammation (Chair: Ralph Meyer)
Invited Speakers: Dr. Maria Agustina Battistone (Harvard Med School)

Session titles indicate topic areas in which ASA delegates will be recruited to present. We aim to give the opportunity of an oral presentation to everyone who has a technique or experimental approach to share in these three research areas.

This Workshop format generally has one or two main speakers per session, with the remaining presenters selected from ASA delegates.

It is intended to be interactive (time for asking questions and sharing ideas), as it aims to provide opportunities for delegates to network and to share their technical and experimental basic research capacities. A key goal of the ASA-BSW is to enhance interactions between clinicians and basic biologists, promoting potential collaborations that ensure our research has impact. We welcome participants from all career stages and training backgrounds. Please remember to identify “ASA-BSW 2023” in the subject line of your application email.

Expression of Interest

We encourage anyone who is interested in attending to submit an “expression of interest” indicating your intention to attend and/or your willingness to provide an invited oral presentation. This will give us a list of participants to circulate so that attendees will be able to identify others with skills and research activities that are of particular interest. The final length of presentations within the session will be determined by the Chair and other Committee members. Speakers will be notified of the final program schedule at least 1 month before the meeting starts.
Organizers will provide a formal letter of invitation to present.

Please send in your Expression of Interest form to Makoto Nagano makoto.nagano@mcgill.ca by  the Abstract Submission closing date of Friday, December 9, to be considered for an oral presentation or to simply express your interest in participation.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!
