Symposium IV: Emotional Health and Male Infertility
The study of the male reproductive system, which includes male sexual health. Hence, Andrology includes the study of male reproduction in all species and most of what we know about reproductive health in men started from research in other animals. In common usage, andrology pertains to men just as gynecology pertains to women.
To advance discovery and education in andrology, the study of male reproductive health, through promoting cross-fertilization and integration of knowledge and expertise in the basic and clinical sciences.

Dear ASA Colleagues,
The American Society of Andrology (ASA) is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the bid to host the 13th International Congress of Andrology (ICA) in 2025 in Washington, D.C.
Over the past 18 months the ICA Exploratory Committee led by ASA President Dr. Michael Palladino, Vice President Dr. Maria Christina Avellar, Past President Dr. George Gerton, Dr. Barry Hinton, Dr. John McCarrey and Sue O’Sullivan prepared a bid proposal for presentation to the International Society of Andrology (ISA).
During the recently concluded 2020 ICA meeting, the ISA voted to approve the ASA to host the 13th ICA in April 2025. Highlights of the ICA bid include:
- ICA 2025 will coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the ASA
- In-person and virtual attendance options
- A premier, historic hotel venue in Washington, D.C. during cherry blossom season
- D.C. location provides a highly visible public and political platform for Andrology
This is an exciting initiative for ASA at a critically important time for our discipline, and a unique opportunity for us to lead and bring the global andrology community together for a highly visible event in Washington, D.C. The ASA bid represented a proposal on behalf of the Americas and sister societies in North and South America.
The last ICA meeting in North America was the VIIth meeting hosted in Montreal in 2001.
Founded in 1981, ISA includes approx. 40 national and regional member societies, representing 10,000 andrologists worldwide. ISA aims to disseminate knowledge of andrology, and to promote basic and clinical research in andrology. Learn more >>
