Dr. Bill Odell passed away in November, 2022 at age 93.
Bill was a Senior Investigator at the NIH, Professor and Chair of Medicine at Harbor-UCLA and Professor of Physiology and Medicine at UCLA and University of Utah, President of the ASA, Vice President of the Endocrine Society and Director of a number of Endocrine Society Workshops on Immunoassays.
Bill Odell helped revolutionize our understanding of Andrology and Endocrinology in over 350 publications on the physiology and pathophysiology of reproductive, thyroid and ectopic hormone secretion by neoplasms.
He trained a large number of subsequent leaders in Andrology and Endocrinology many of whom contributed greatly on their own. His family tree in science was remarkable.
He was a superb clinician, outstanding scientist, and warm and gifted leader in his fields. He was an inspiration to all that had the privilege to work under his guidance and to an even greater number that studied and benefitted from his contributions. When we speak of standing on the shoulders of giants, we are including William D. Odell, a legend in his time.
